Care of your Snap on Dentures
When our patients leave our dental clinic in Cancun after getting mini implant Snap on Dentures they must understand there are things they need to do to keep their new implant dentures in the best conditions. Just because these new teeth are artificial doesn’t mean they don’t require the same care than normal teeth! They are not permanent screwed teeth so you need to remove them when after you eat and rinse them, as well as giving them a good brush before going to sleep. You can keep them on your mouth for sleeping but they must be clean! The plaque builds up on the surface of the denture as well as on the mini implants like it would in natural teeth so you need to make sure to use a soft toothbrush to remove it. There are some things you shouldn’t do, no matter what, because it can jeopardize the material or structural stability:
- Abrasive cleaning materials. Avoid stiff-bristled brushes, strong cleansers and harsh toothpaste, as these are too abrasive and can damage your denture.
- Whitening toothpastes. Toothpastes advertised as whitening pastes are especially abrasive and generally should be avoided on a Snap in Denture.
- Bleach-containing products. Do not use any bleaching products because these can weaken your Snap in Denture and change their color. Don’t soak dentures with metal attachments (like Snap in Dentures housings) in solutions that contain chlorine because it can tarnish and corrode the metal.
If you’re still using a regular denture, will be a good idea to change them for “Snap in”. Mini implants give them a strong and stable anchor that allows you to speak, eat and smile as if they were your natural teeth. Also, makes easy to clean them since you will not have to use any glue or adhesive! Forget about accidents caused by your loose dentures.
